Welcome to Kouvola

In the heart of South-Eastern Finland the city resides next to the Kymi River (Kymijoki), surrounded by forests. Kouvola is a city of sports, culture and nature and a rare mix of urban and rural.

We have a population of about 81 000, 450 lakes and over 7 500 summer cottages. We are one of the largest centres of rail transport and logistics as well as the largest garrison city in Finland.

Kouvola has something for every taste; the region is a very popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, just as it is with people seeking to relax and to get away from it all. Families are thrilled about Tykkimäki, the third largest amusement park in Finland.

Working and living in this city is easy. The cost of living is considerably lower than for example in the Helsinki capital area. Services are within easy reach.

Elections to the European Parliament 2024

 

The next elections to the European Parliament, or European elections, will be held in Finland in June 2024. By voting in the elections, you can have a say on who will represent Finland in the European Parliament for the next five years.

  • Election day on Sunday 9 June 2024 from 9 am. to 8 pm.
  • The advance voting period is from 29 May to 4 June 2024 in Finland

The European elections will be held simultaneously in all EU Member States.

A total of 720 Members of the European Parliament, or MEPs, representing the citizens of the European Union will be elected to the European Parliament. Fifteen MEPs will be elected in Finland. Once elected, the MEPs usually join a European political group.
