
The City of Kouvola offers a variety of activities during week 43 for children, youth, and families enjoying the autumn break.
Let’s Get Moving During Autumn Break!
- Indoor Climbing for Schoolchildren. Monday 20 Oct at 17:00–18:00 and 18:00–19:00 at Valkealatalo. Max 15 participants per session, ages 6 and up. Price: €5, cash payment on site. Organized by Climbing Club Kiila. Registration opens 15 Oct: kouvola.fi/lastenliikunta.
- Indoor Adventure Track. Monday 20 Oct at 10:00–11:30 and 13:00–14:30 at Valkealatalo. Tuesday 21 Oct at 10:00–12:00 at Inkeroinen Multipurpose Hall. Includes a versatile obstacle course and ball games. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Ball Game and Badminton Sessions for Families. Tuesday 21 and Thursday 23 Oct at 9:00–14:00 at Kuusankoski Sports Hall. Tuesday–Wednesday 21–22 Oct at 9:00–14:00 at Valkealatalo. One reservation per group. The hall is divided into two sections. Booking opens 15 Oct: kouvola.fi/lastenliikunta.
- Badminton Sessions for Families. Tuesday–Wednesday 21–22 Oct at 9:00–14:00 at Koria Multipurpose Hall. One reservation per group. The hall is divided into two sections.

- Public Ice Skating for Families – With and Without Sticks. Available at Inkeroinen, Kuusankoski, and Valkeala ice rinks. See schedule: kouvola.fi/yleisovuorot. Kääkki – the friendly and playful Kouvola mascot – joins the skating fun on Monday 21 Oct at 14:15–15:00 at Kuusankoski Ice Hall.
Word Art Orienteering in Libraries
Kouvola Adult Education Centre and libraries organize word art orienteering throughout October in all Kouvola libraries. Participation is free and can be done anytime during library opening hours. After completing the task sheet, participants create their own imaginative fairy tale character and can continue storytelling at home or in class. Show your completed sheet to library staff to receive a small prize. Library opening hours and events: Kyyti Libraries.
Visual Arts and Artist Meetups at Poikilo Museums
- Magical Reality – Mari Keto. Until 4 Jan 2026 at Kouvola Art Museum Poikilo. Artist meetup with Mari Keto on Saturday 18 Oct at 13:00. Explore the exhibition with the artist and hear the stories behind the works.

Autumn Break at Youth Houses
Youth Houses mainly serve 12–17-year-olds. Kouvola city center’s NuortenPaikka also hosts Thursday evenings for youth aged 17–28.
Highlights from the week’s program:
- Day Camp at Inkeroinen Youth House (20–22 Oct). Activities include tabletop role-playing games, audiovisual painting, and cooking. Info and registration: Nuorten Kouvola
- “Be Creative” Mini Camp at NuPa (22–23 Oct). Focus on crafts and creativity. Info and registration: Nuorten Kouvola
- Additional activities include night events, pyjama parties, cooking, art, tournaments, and campfire treats like sausages and marshmallows!

Shared activities for families with small children
Kouvola’s open early childhood education offers free activities every weekday during autumn break. Highlights from the weekly program:
- Monday 20 Oct: Backpack hike to Kettumäki Folk Park at 9:30–11:00. Bring your own snacks to grill.
- Tuesday 21 Oct: Discussion forum at Keltakangas Family Center – Movement and Digital Life in a Child’s Daily Routine at 10:00–11:00. Limited childcare available for registered participants (Forms).
- Thursday 23 Oct: Backpack hike to Kymin Nikkarit at 16:30–19:00.
- Friday 24 Oct: Library bus Tesaurus at Kuovi Family Park at 9:30–10:30.
