Additional weekend departures and service to Kasarminmäki have been added in Kouvola’s public transport network

The additional departures on Route 7 primarily serve weekend employees and customers of the Veturi-shopping center. At the same time, Routes 7 and 8 will be redirected to the Kasarminmäki route.

During the autumn, the Public Transport Unit received a significant amount of feedback regarding weekend services to the Veturi shopping center. The feedback emphasized the importance of enabling staff to use public transport for commuting on weekends. Currently, services between the shopping center and the city center have ended before 18:00, while most stores remain open until 18:00 or 19:00. Weekend shifts employ a large number of students who do not have access to a private car.

The additional departures will take effect on November 15, 2025. On both Saturday and Sunday, an extra Route 7B departure from Lehtomäki at 18:45 and a Route 7 departure from Pilkanmaa at 18:43 will be added to the existing schedule. These departures will be operated using the same vehicles as other Route 7 services.

On Saturday, November 15, 2025, a change will also be implemented whereby Routes 7 and 8 will operate via Kasarminmäki instead of Kuusaantie on all days and for all departures. The start of service on the Kasarminmäki route was previously delayed due to street works on Kasarminkatu, but now the routes will be redirected to follow Kappelikatu – Pääportinkatu – Kasarminkatu – Torvitie – Sepänkatu. The routes will remain on this alignment until the end of the 2025–2026 winter season. In Kasarminmäki, the routes will primarily serve students of the university of applied sciences, as well as local residents. Available stops in Kasarminmäki are located at the intersection of Pääportinkatu and Kasarminkatu, near XAMK, and along Torvitie and Sepänkatu.

Route of lines 7/7B/7V and 8 in Kasarminmäki starting November 15, 2025.
