Job-seeking and income

As an immigrant you will receive personal instructions and information about the labour market when looking for a job in Kouvola. However, that requires that You are a job-seeking customer of the Employment and Economic Development Office.

The Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela) grants and pays benefits to the unemployed. These benefits include integration allowance, housing benefit and child benefit.

You can also receive income support once a month. Support must be applied for from the municipal Social Services Department. The Immigration Office will help you to fill in the form.

In Kouvola, your application will be processed by the Financial Support Unit. Income support can also be granted in special situations, for example if your child falls ill. Your family members cannot receive money from Finland, if they live in another country.
