Responsible risk management essentially involves the supervising and controlling of risk-taking. The control ensures that the organisation follows the approved risk-taking strategy.
Good risk management requires control that includes the supervision of how guiding principles and instructions are being followed, various monitoring mechanisms, safe-keeping procedures and efficient co-operation between expert units and operational units.
The responsibilities of the Risk Management Unit of the City of Kouvola include, for instance:
- Preparing the City’s risk policy
- The insurance policy of the city
- Managing risks in society and securing vital functions
- Co-ordinating the emergency plan and the safety plan
- Co-ordinating Safe Community activities
