The City of Kouvola offers a wide range of educational services: basic education, general upper secondary education and vocational upper secondary education and training, and also universities of applied sciences and liberal adult education.
Both comprehensive schools and upper secondary schools offer the opportunity to focus on music, sciences, sports or the arts. More detailed information is available on the schools’ web pages. Night school provides the opportunity to complete basic education or general upper secondary education syllabi or parts of these or to take the matriculation examination.
In the Kouvola Region Vocational College one can study more than 40 different vocational qualifications from seven different fields of study. In addition to this, the Kouvola Region Vocational College and Kouvola Vocational Adult Education Centre offer opportunities to learn a new vocational qualification or deepen the level of current professional skills as adult education. One should not forget apprenticeship training, which is a very practical way to study. Most of the vocational training is received by on the job training. Practical training is supported by theoretical studies in institutions providing vocational education.
The Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences in Kouvola offers education in international business and culture and in the field of social and health care. The University of Helsinki’s Palmenia Centre for Continuing Education serves especially academic adult students and organisations from the public and business sectors.
